FFD Commercial Refrigeration & Catering Ltd. has launched embedded product protection across its catalogue in partnership with Loxa, extending cover on commercial catering equipment beyond standard manufacturer warranties.

Barwell, Leicestershire, 3 November 2026
FFD Commercial Refrigeration & Catering Ltd. (FFD), one of the UK's leading commercial refrigeration and catering equipment retailers, has launched embedded product protection across its catalogue, offering hospitality operators extended cover on equipment their businesses cannot afford to be without.
Most commercial catering and refrigeration equipment sold in the UK ships with a 12-month parts-only or two-year parts and one-year labour warranty as standard. For the cafe owner, sandwich shop, pub or small chain buying that kit, that cover expires long before the equipment reaches the end of its working life. When something fails during service, the cost is rarely in the repair bill itself. It is in the lost stock, the lost trading hours, and the customers who do not come back.
FFD now offers three- and five-year extended product protection on insurable items at the point of purchase, in partnership with Loxa, a UK-based, FCA-authorised specialist in embedded product protection. The cover extends beyond the manufacturer's warranty period to include mechanical and electrical breakdown, and adds accidental damage cover with no excess to pay.
The programme has been live across FFD's catalogue since March 2026.
Founded in 2008 by Cory Greenhough, FFD sells more than 5,000 products from over 30 manufacturers, including True, Foster, Gamko, Tefcold, Hoshizaki, Adande and Osborne. The business is a REFCOM Elite Supplier and CEDA member, serving customers across hospitality, foodservice, retail and the public sector.
For Greenhough, closing the warranty gap has been a long-standing priority.
“I'd been looking for something like this for years. We're on Magento, which makes most things harder than they need to be. Loxa was the exception. Their team had the app ready, worked through it with our developers, and we were live in days. It fits the way we sell, the products we sell, and the customers we sell to. For our customers, it closes the gap their manufacturer warranty was always going to leave.”

Making that possible meant navigating one of UK ecommerce's more technically demanding platforms. FFD's storefront runs on Magento, chosen for the depth of customisation it allows a catalogue of over 5,000 specialist commercial products. Loxa's app, built to work across any ecommerce platform, was integrated into the FFD store and configured within three working days, allowing the team to focus on their customers rather than on integration overhead.
The launch comes as embedded equipment protection becomes a more visible part of UK B2B retail, with a small number of category retailers moving to close the gap between manufacturer warranties and the cover their customers actually need. In the US, embedded equipment protection has been a standard feature of foodservice retail for over a decade.
“Commercial catering equipment is among the most mission-critical kit in UK retail. When it fails, the cost lands directly on the operator. The standard manufacturer warranties in this category have not kept pace with how that equipment is actually used or what it is worth to the businesses depending on it. FFD has recognised that, and they are leading the way in offering their customers protection that reflects the commercial reality, not just the legal minimum.”

The FFD programme is designed for commercial buyers. Cover is offered as an add-on at checkout on insurable items across the catalogue, with three-year cover priced fairly against the value of the product itself, and a five-year option available on selected items. Claims are handled end-to-end by Loxa, including engineer arrangement and repair, with replacement or store credit available where repair is not practical.
Within two hours of launch in March 2026, FFD's customers were adding product protection to their commercial refrigeration purchases. In a category where equipment failure means lost stock and lost trade, that early uptake pointed to a simple truth: catering appliances need this kind of cover, and their buyers know it.
